Our Box

We do not exist just to exist we have a purpose and a specific reason why we do what we do and why we believe what we believe. At CrossFit 116 every workout begins with a general and specific warm up, followed by either some time to work on a strength or skill, then the WOD or “Workout of the Day”, then a cool down and stretching. This format usually stays the same but everything in the format changes every single day.

At CrossFit 116 our mission is to build a community of people of all ages and all walks of life from old to young, from elite athlete to the casual athlete. CrossFit is about not specializing in anything and we do not specialize in any type of person. We believe in the philosophy of CrossFit and believe that everyone no matter what age or what ability can do the same workout together with scaling. From the elite fighter to the soccer mom we wish to build a community where true health and fitness is the priority. There is no judging, there are no ego’s, there are no excuses only work.

“Invicta” or undefeated. We believe in helping people become victorious in life. To do that we hope to provide a place of many victories and accomplishments. We see people achieving levels of fitness they never thought possible. We see parents with energy to play with their children again. We at CrossFit 116 are dedicated to providing people with the coaching, training, and mentoring necessary to be “Undefeated” in life not only CrossFit. We envision the things that happen within our walls as a launching pad for everyone involved to improve their standard of living period. Can’t wait to meet you and for you to join our family of people who choose to become undefeated by seeking out higher levels of human fitness together.

Box Rules

Show Up – A huge part of your success at our box depends on simply getting up out of your bed, or driving over after a long day at work to get your WOD in. We know how busy life can be at times. But here is the thing you will make time for what is important to you. Make your health and fitness a priority and show up. It will be worth it trust us!!
Don’t talk while a coach is talking – not only is this a detriment to you and your performance but a detriment to others as well. There are times to talk and there are times to listen. Come close take in the instruction. Who knows it might be just what you need to hit a PR “Personal Record” that day. No one’s form is flawless not even the elite of the elite CrossFitter’s they still listen. Not only is this a detriment to your performance but to your safety as well. We want to make sure that everyone is performing the movements in the safest manner. If you are talking or not moving with the group and learning the movement you could end up seriously injured!
Positive Attitude and encourage others – A positive attitude goes a long way not just for your performance but for the performance of others at the box. People thrive on good attitudes. Don’t be negative nancy all the time. Be confident in yourself and what you can do but don’t be arrogant. When you finish your WOD go cheer on others to finish trust me you will need it at some point and will understand how important it is when your fighting to finish and everyone around you is cheering you on.
Be early – This is especially important while we are in the place we are in we have to make the most with the room that we do have. Being early will not only benefit you but others in your class. This will give you plenty of time to use the bathroom, change, and warm up before class starts.
Respect our equipment – Drop the weight as a LAST RESORT!! If you are dropping after every rep it is probably to heavy so take some weight off. It’s not just about respecting our equipment but there is something to be said about going through the full range of motion that is more beneficial then going through half a range of motion and dropping. Trust us! Take it down if your having to drop every Rep.
Clean up – Wipe down equipment with wipes after finished especially if there is any blood. Put equipment back where it belongs.

What is CrossFit?

Constantly Varied

Functional

High Intensity

The CrossFit prescription is “constantly varied, high-intensity, functional movement.” Functional movements are universal motor recruitment patterns; they are performed in a wave of contraction from core to extremity; and they are compound movements—i.e., they are multi-joint. They are natural, effective, and efficient locomotors of body and external objects. But no aspect of functional movements is more important than their capacity to move large loads over long distances, and to do so quickly. Collectively, these three attributes (load, distance, and speed) uniquely qualify
